Job Description

We are looking for a part-time or full-time web developer to work out of our office in downtown Saint Petersburg, FL. Most development is for database-driven websites written in classic ASP, but experience with ASP.Net and C# will also be helpful.

It is essential for applicants to work well in a team environment and be driven, self-motivated, and able to work independently. Applicants may also be asked to perform other IT related tasks, such as system administration or internal technical support. However, this will not be a significant part of the job.

Compensation will commensurate with applicant’s education and experience.

This job reports to the company’s CIO, who is also active in design and development.

Job Responsibilities

The hired applicant will be responsible for some or all of the following:

  • Design, or help to design, cross-browser compatible web pages using HTML and CSS.
  • Build and update database-driven web applications using Microsoft Visual Web Developer, Microsoft Visual Studio and/or other similar tools.
  • Test and evaluate new and existing web applications.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve bugs in existing web applications.
  • Suggest new, creative, and profitable ideas for new or existing websites.

Skills Required

At minimum, qualified applicants MUST have an intermediate to advanced understanding of:

  • Microsoft Windows,
  • HTML,
  • CSS,
  • JavaScript, and
  • SQL.

Qualified applicants should also have experience with at least some of the following:

  • Microsoft Windows Server (2003/2008),
  • Microsoft SQL Server (2005/2008),
  • Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio,
  • Microsoft Visual Studio,
  • C# and ASP.Net,
  • Social media and social networks,
  • SEO techniques, and
  • XML feeds.

Experience in any of the following is not required, but will be considered a plus:

  • Creating and optimizing stored procedures,
  • JavaScript libraries (specifically MooTools or jQuery),
  • Linux (specifically CentOS or RHEL),
  • MySQL, or
  • PHP.

Additional Requirements

Qualified applicants must be authorized to work in the United States. They also will need to demonstrate various skills outlined above and consent to a background check.
